Six Paths, One Purpose
At Dheerana Youth Forum, we believe that youth development should extend beyond academic achievement. A well-balanced young person should be guided by values, equipped with knowledge and skills, confident in leadership, active in society and mindful of both personal and collective wellbeing.
For this reason, our work is guided by six core development areas:
1. Religious and Cultural Development
Strengthening moral values, spiritual understanding and cultural identity through the teachings of the Dhamma and meaningful engagement with tradition.
2. Leadership and Personality Development
Building confidence, discipline, communication skills, responsibility and the ability to lead others with integrity and humility.
3. Education and Skill Development
Providing opportunities for learning, career awareness and practical skill development that prepare young people for future challenges.
4. Sports, Arts and Recreation
Supporting physical wellbeing, creativity, teamwork and self-expression through sports, artistic activities and healthy recreation.
5. Community Service
Encouraging compassion, responsibility and active citizenship through meaningful service to temples, communities and those in need.
6. Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Development
Promoting environmental awareness, sustainable habits and responsible action to protect nature for present and future generations.
Although each area focuses on a different aspect of growth, they are closely connected. Together, they form Dheerana’s holistic approach to nurturing courageous, disciplined, compassionate and socially responsible young people.
In the coming articles, we will explore each of these six core development areas in greater detail and explain how they shape the programmes and purpose of Dheerana Youth Forum.
